The 38th team of the “Masam” project, dedicated to mine clearance in Yemen, recently dismantled landmines near residential areas in the southern region of Bani Fayad, located in the Midi district of Hajjah Governorate. This operation addressed a significant threat to the lives and properties of local civilians, including their livestock.
Engineer Saif Al-Mashmari, the team leader, reported that a local citizen alerted them to the presence of individual landmines and anti-tank mines near populated areas. Upon receiving this information, the team promptly deployed to the site to mitigate the risks posed by these explosives.
During the initial hours of their assessment, the team successfully dismantled two individual landmines. Al-Mashmari emphasized that the field survey continues in this high-risk area, ensuring thorough monitoring and clearance.
The team has issued warnings to residents, advising them to avoid the area until all mines and remnants of war are completely removed. This precaution aims to secure the region, allowing citizens to resume their daily activities without fear or anxiety.
The ongoing efforts of the “Masam” project highlight the importance of mine clearance in Yemen, ensuring the safety and well-being of local communities. As operations progress, the team remains committed to protecting civilians and restoring normalcy in affected areas.
