King Salman Humanitarian Aid Project Removes 1,329 Landmines in Yemen

In a significant effort to clear Yemen of landmines, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s “Masam” project successfully removed 1,329 landmines during the third week of March. These mines were planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militias across various provinces.

Details of the Landmine Removal

The center reported that the removed landmines included six anti-personnel mines, 200 anti-tank mines, 1,116 unexploded ordnance, and seven explosive devices. This operation increased the total number of landmines cleared in March to 3,500. Since the inception of the “Masam” project, the total number of cleared landmines has reached an impressive 549,452.

Impact on Communities

The indiscriminate planting of these mines has targeted innocent lives, particularly affecting children, women, and the elderly. The presence of landmines has instilled fear in the hearts of many, disrupting daily life and posing a constant threat to safety.

Conclusion

The ongoing efforts of the “Masam” project highlight the urgent need for humanitarian assistance in Yemen. As the project continues to clear hazardous areas, it aims to restore safety and stability to communities affected by conflict.
