"Masam" Dismantles Over 4,600 War Remnants in Abyan

The "Masam" project, dedicated to clearing landmines in Yemen, successfully executed a significant operation today. This initiative aimed to destroy a large quantity of unexploded ordnance in the Wadi Dofas area of Zinjibar District, Abyan Governorate. The operation underscores Masam’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community safety and protecting civilian lives.

Operation Details

According to information shared on Masam’s official website, the first special operations team conducted the mission. The team successfully destroyed a total of 4,620 pieces of ammunition and war remnants. This included 155 assorted shells, 235 various fuses, 85 armor-piercing steel arrows, 4,096 assorted rounds, 13 anti-personnel mines, 5 anti-tank mines, and 31 hand grenades.

Commitment to Safety

Engineer Munther Qassem, the leader of the first special operations team, confirmed that the operation took place in a secure area, far from residential neighborhoods and agricultural lands. He emphasized that the team adhered strictly to international standards, despite facing various field challenges.
