Mareb prepares to host the National Education Conference to enhance the future of education in Yemen.

National Education Conference to Address Challenges in Marib

In May, Marib Governorate will host the National Education Conference titled “Reality and Challenges.” The event is organized by the National Center for Strategic Studies and the Yemeni International Development Agency, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and the University of the Saba Region. The conference enjoys the patronage of Council Member Major General Sultan Al-Arada.

Objectives of the Conference

The conference aims to discuss the current state of general and higher education amid ongoing wars and crises. It will present studies and scientific papers focused on improving the educational process. Additionally, the event seeks to explore the realities of education funding, future aspirations, and to enhance the role of stakeholders in shaping the future of education, ensuring broad community participation.

Key Focus Areas

The conference will concentrate on five main themes:

  1. General and higher education
  2. Curriculum development
  3. The role of both the public and private sectors in supporting education
  4. E-learning
  5. Modern teaching methods and techniques

Importance of Education in Reconstruction

During the launch event, Marib Deputy Governor Mohammed Al-Muawadi emphasized that education serves as the cornerstone for rebuilding what the war has destroyed. He highlighted the importance of education in achieving development and constructing a new Yemeni state. Al-Muawadi also pointed out the systematic destruction of education over the past years by Houthi militias, which aimed to undermine society and promote a culture of hatred and class division.

A Platform for Future Educational Partnerships

Dr. Abdulhamid Amer, head of the National Center for Strategic Studies, and Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Salami, executive director of the Yemeni International Development Agency, stated that the conference represents a launching pad for a better educational future. They emphasized the need for practical and applicable recommendations that would establish effective partnerships among various stakeholders.

This conference not only aims to address pressing educational challenges but also aspires to create a collaborative environment that fosters sustainable development in Yemen’s education sector.
