In a significant move towards empowering women in Yemen, 38 beneficiaries in the city of Mukalla, Hadramout Governorate, received professional tools for tailoring and hairstyling. This initiative, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and implemented by the United Nations Population Fund in collaboration with the Human Access Association, is part of a Livelihoods Project aimed at supporting the most vulnerable women and girls in Yemen.
Khaled Balfas, the Deputy Director of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Office in Hadramout Coast, lauded the efforts of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre. He highlighted the Centre’s exceptional humanitarian interventions across various sectors, underscoring their commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of Yemen’s most vulnerable populations.
Khaled Ba’Isa, the project manager, shared insights into the training component of the initiative. He noted that 78 women underwent training in tailoring and hairstyling through six courses held from January to August 2024. These courses not only equipped the participants with professional and life skills but also introduced them to entrepreneurship, paving the way for their financial independence and societal contribution.
This initiative stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment for women in Yemen, offering them the tools and skills necessary to build a better future for themselves and their communities. The collaborative effort underscores the importance of vocational training in humanitarian aid, highlighting a path towards sustainable development and gender equality in the region.
