Harry Kane has equaled the record set by English goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton for the most appearances by a player for the England men’s national team, reaching a total of 125 matches. Kane achieved this milestone during England’s match against the Czech Republic in the UEFA Nations League at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday evening.
This accomplishment occurred at the same stadium where Kane made his debut over 11 years ago. He entered the game as a substitute against Lithuania in 2015 and scored just 79 seconds after his introduction.
Kane, now a forward for Bayern Munich and the all-time leading scorer for his country with 89 goals, previously broke Gary Lineker’s record as the top English scorer in World Cup history during the last tournament, raising his tally to 14 goals.
The England national team secured an easy victory against the Czech Republic, winning 3-0. This win marked a repeat of their earlier triumph over the same team, where they won 2-0 away from home in the fourth round of the UEFA Nations League.
