Joint Statement from the Makkah Summit on Collective Defense

A joint statement was issued today following the Makkah Summit on Collective Defense, attended by representatives from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan.

High-Level Visits to Saudi Arabia

In response to an invitation from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited Saudi Arabia on February 24, 1448 AH, corresponding to August 7, 2026.

Upon their arrival, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed both leaders at the Royal Court in Al-Safa Palace, Makkah.

Strengthening Defense Ties

During the summit, the leaders discussed the strong relationships among Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey. They addressed several issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the historical ties and Islamic solidarity that bind the three nations.

In a significant move, the leaders signed the “Makkah Agreement on Collective Defense.” This agreement reflects their commitment to enhancing mutual security and promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Objectives of the Makkah Agreement
