The Lebanese Ministry of Health has reported a tragic increase in casualties from Israeli airstrikes, with the death toll now reaching 2,715 since March 2. Additionally, the number of injured individuals has risen to 8,353, according to a statement from the Emergency Health Operations Center released on Wednesday evening. This alarming situation coincides with escalating military operations in the region, raising significant concerns about the humanitarian crisis.
On Wednesday, Israeli forces conducted an airstrike on the town of Saksakiya in the Sidon district of southern Lebanon. This attack resulted in one death and left 17 others injured. Reports from the National News Agency indicate that several other southern towns also faced airstrikes.
Israeli military operations continued with explosions reported in the towns of Al-Ma’shar and Tayr Harfa. Furthermore, heavy artillery shelling targeted southern towns, including the use of phosphorus shells in the bombardment of Majdal Zoun. These actions reflect an ongoing escalation that highlights the increasing tensions in the area.
In response, the Israeli military announced the interception of a suspicious aerial target launched from Lebanon toward Israel. Hezbollah claimed that its forces successfully repelled an Israeli advance in the Wadi al-Raj area between the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Deir Sryan. These developments indicate a rise in clashes between the two sides.
Hezbollah issued three statements confirming attacks on Israeli military gatherings. They targeted a group of Israeli vehicles and soldiers in the town of Rachaf. Additionally, Hezbollah struck a gathering of Israeli troops and newly deployed technical equipment in the town of Al-Bayada, asserting that these operations were in retaliation for Israel’s violations of the ceasefire.
The ongoing military operations in Lebanon heighten fears regarding their humanitarian impact. Civilians are suffering from the consequences of these airstrikes, prompting calls for international intervention to protect them and ensure their safety. Moreover, the military escalation threatens regional stability, necessitating urgent measures to de-escalate tensions.
