On Thursday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed U.S. Ambassador Stephen Fagin for a critical discussion aimed at strengthening the partnership between Yemen and the United States. The meeting, which also included Council member Major General Mahmoud Subaihi, centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

During their discussions, both leaders highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Yemen and the U.S. and examined recent developments within the country, particularly the government’s comprehensive reform efforts. President Alimi underscored the importance of U.S. and international support to mitigate the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

President Alimi reiterated the significance of the strategic partnership with the United States, particularly in countering cross-border threats and addressing Iran’s destabilizing behavior in the region. The President cited the Houthis’ recent provocative actions, including humanitarian threats and maritime risks, such as the hijacking of a vessel off Yemen’s coast, as indicators of this ongoing escalation.
