Iran hasn’t broken the blockade; instead, it has created a tragedy in Yemen, turning it into a platform for its expansionist agenda, says the Minister of Information.

Iranian Influence in Yemen: A Misguided Narrative

Minister of Information Critiques Houthi Claims

Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani has strongly criticized the Houthi militia’s portrayal of Iran as a savior for Yemenis. He labeled this narrative as one of the most misleading and ironic claims. Al-Eryani emphasized that Iran has never been part of the solution in Yemen. Instead, he argued that Iran has significantly contributed to the ongoing crisis since the Houthi coup in 2014, turning Yemen into a battleground for its regional ambitions.

Iran’s Role in Yemen’s Crisis

In a recent press statement, Al-Eryani outlined the destructive impact of Iranian support for the Houthi rebellion. He stated that Iran has only brought weapons, bloodshed, and destruction to Yemen. The regime has continued to smuggle ballistic missiles, drones, and their components into the country. Furthermore, Iranian Revolutionary Guard experts have introduced techniques for manufacturing landmines and explosives, which have killed and injured hundreds of thousands of Yemenis. This support has also facilitated the looting of state resources and transformed parts of Yemen into a forward base for Iranian interests, threatening neighboring countries and international shipping routes in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden.

A Call for Genuine Humanitarian Support

Al-Eryani argued that if Iran genuinely cared about humanitarian issues, it would support the end of the Houthi coup and promote peace. He urged Iran to respect Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while contributing to reconstruction efforts. Instead, he accused Iran of flooding Yemen with weapons and experts, exacerbating the conflict, deepening divisions, and exploiting the suffering of Yemenis for its political and military gains.

Revealing the True Nature of Iranian Intentions

Recent developments have further exposed Iran’s true intentions in Yemen, according to Al-Eryani. He pointed out that Iran has not invested in building hospitals, schools, power stations, or roads. Rather, it has supplied tools of war, Revolutionary Guard experts, and a culture of violence and chaos, thereby expanding the scope of destruction and suffering in the country.

Protecting Yemen’s Sovereignty

In conclusion, Al-Eryani stressed that the current struggle is not merely about air travel or airports. It centers on safeguarding the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen and preventing its territory from becoming a forward base for Iranian expansion. He underscored the importance of protecting Yemen and the region’s security, as well as ensuring the safety of international shipping in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden from the dangerous repercussions of Iran’s destructive agenda.
