The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported the displacement of over 800 individuals since the beginning of this year. This surge in displacement coincides with escalating military tensions in eastern Yemen, particularly in Hadhramaut Governorate.
In its weekly report, the IOM documented the displacement of 90 families, comprising 540 individuals, between January 4 and January 10. The organization highlighted that the movement of displaced families primarily originated from the provinces of Hadhramaut, Marib, Al Hudaydah, and Al Dhale’e.
The report detailed where these families have settled:
According to the IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix, the total number of displaced families across Yemen since the start of the year has reached approximately 144 families, affecting 864 individuals. Each of these families has experienced displacement at least once.
This ongoing crisis underscores the urgent need for humanitarian assistance in Yemen as conflict continues to displace vulnerable populations.
