Abdulrahman Sheikh, the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, has announced a series of initiatives designed to enhance the administrative and operational efficiency of the Land Protection Unit. This announcement was made during a meeting attended by directors from various districts, public works offices, the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund, and representatives from the Land Protection Unit.
During the meeting, Sheikh emphasized the critical need for improved organization and coordination among relevant authorities. He stated that effective collaboration is essential for regulating construction activities, combating illegal building practices, and addressing attempts to exploit land resources. The Minister reiterated that a unified approach is necessary to tackle these challenges effectively.
Sheikh underscored the importance of adhering to legal standards in land use and construction. He urged all involved parties to actively prevent unlawful activities and to address any violations in partnership with specialized agencies. Furthermore, he called for thorough investigations into offenders while ensuring the responsible handling of citizens’ concerns.
As part of the actionable steps discussed, Sheikh reiterated the prohibition against converting agricultural land into investment properties. He proposed organizing a joint meeting involving the Land Protection Unit, the Public Works Office, and the Cleanliness Fund to establish a clear framework for penalizing violations. This framework will also outline the procedures for addressing issues related to non-compliant machinery owners.
Additionally, district directors and the Cleanliness Fund were tasked with compiling comprehensive lists of areas designated as investment lands and public spaces. By implementing these measures, the government aims to foster a more organized and legally compliant environment for land use in Aden.
