South Korea has witnessed a remarkable increase in its information and communication technology (ICT) exports, more than doubling in March compared to the same period last year. This surge stems from strong demand for semiconductors, driven by the global boom in artificial intelligence.
According to data released by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the value of ICT exports reached $43.51 billion in March, a significant rise from $20.52 billion in the previous year. This marks the first time monthly ICT exports have exceeded $40 billion in March.
The data also revealed that imports rose by 32.2% year-on-year, totaling $16.15 billion. This increase contributed to a substantial trade surplus of $27.36 billion in the ICT sector, highlighting South Korea’s strong position in the global technology market.
As demand for advanced technologies continues to grow, South Korea’s ICT sector remains poised for further expansion. The country’s ability to capitalize on the AI revolution positions it as a leader in the global technology landscape.
