The Immigration, Passports, and Nationality Authority in the Khormaksar district of Aden has announced the successful completion of all pending passport applications. In a statement released on Monday, the office confirmed that it has transitioned to a phase in which no delayed requests remain, thereby allowing for the prompt processing of new applications.
The authority explained that continuous efforts over the past months have been instrumental in eliminating the backlog of applications that had accumulated from early 2025 until May 2026. Furthermore, the introduction of new operational mechanisms has significantly expedited processing times and improved service quality for citizens seeking passport services.
The authority confirmed that the delivery department will remain operational during the Eid al-Adha holiday, providing services in both morning and evening shifts, with the exception of the first two days of the holiday. This initiative aims to ensure that citizens can collect their passports without delays, thereby facilitating their travel plans during the festive period.
The authority reiterated its commitment to implementing stringent measures against fraud and extortion. It has established direct channels for citizens to submit complaints and feedback, a move designed to enhance transparency and improve overall performance. This action follows widespread dissatisfaction expressed on social media, where activists and journalists highlighted citizen grievances regarding delays in passport printing.
These complaints have ignited an ongoing debate about the prolonged passport crisis, which has persisted for years without effective solutions. Unverified allegations regarding the diversion of passport booklets abroad have further exacerbated the challenges faced by Yemenis in terms of travel and mobility since the onset of war in 2014.
