Governor Nabil Shamsan of Taiz chaired a comprehensive meeting of the emergency committee today. The meeting focused on the humanitarian and living conditions resulting from the blockade imposed on the city of Taiz by the Houthi militia, which is supported by the Iranian regime.
During the meeting, which included First Deputy Governor Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Makhlafi, executive office directors, district managers, and member of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission Dr. Alfat Al-Dubai, Governor Shamsan stressed the importance of monitoring the supply situation. He highlighted the need for securing essential goods, fuel supplies, and domestic gas, while taking necessary measures to meet citizens’ needs and alleviate their suffering.
The governor underscored the necessity of adhering to officially approved prices. He called for enforcing compliance among agents and traders to sell according to the specified prices. Additionally, he emphasized the need for intensified field monitoring of markets and taking appropriate actions against violators. He praised the efforts of Hayel Saeed Anam Group for facilitating the entry of food supplies into the city, which contributes to enhancing food supply and alleviating citizens’ hardships.
Deputy Governor Rashad Al-Akhali reviewed the supply situation and the challenges arising from the blockade. He noted the scarcity of certain goods and the ongoing difficulties in delivering fuel and gas to the city. He presented the measures taken to address supply disruptions, secure essential needs, and ensure the continuity of basic services.
Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office Nabil Jamal provided a brief report on the emergency committee’s actions and the measures implemented to address the consequences of the blockade. He emphasized the need to enhance market oversight and expedite necessary procedures to regulate prices and prevent exploitation of the exceptional circumstances. This approach aims to protect citizens, stabilize markets, and provide essential goods at reasonable prices.
