The Houthi militia has once again stormed the vegetable wholesale market affiliated with the Ibb Sports Club in Ibb City. This latest incursion, reported by the club’s media official, Ahmad Kharasan, involved armed groups that not only entered the market but also abducted several vendors.
This incident marks a continuation of a series of aggressive actions by the Houthis against the market, which began approximately two weeks ago. The militia aims to empty the market to favor a Houthi investor from Amran, who has struggled to manage a competing market.
In recent days, the Houthis have shut down the wholesale market in Al-Dhahr and detained numerous traders and demonstrators protesting against their actions. These developments have alarmed local vendors and community members.
According to sports sources, the militia seeks to seize control of the market area, which is strategically located in the heart of Ibb City. This location has become a target as the Houthis engage in systematic land and property seizures, affecting both public and private assets within the province.
As tensions escalate, local residents and traders remain vigilant, hoping for a resolution that protects their livelihoods and community resources.
