Governor of Lahij launches asphalt project for the Aden-Lahij road.

Governor Launches Asphalt Project for Aden-Lahij Road

Lahij, Yemen – Today, Governor Murad Al-Halimi officially launched the asphalt project for the Aden-Lahij road. This initiative follows the road’s rehabilitation and is part of the local authority’s 2026 development program. The project is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Public Works and Roads and the Road Maintenance Fund.

Commitment to Infrastructure Development

Governor Al-Halimi emphasized that this project represents a practical approach by the provincial leadership to enhance the road network and improve its efficiency. He highlighted the road’s vital role in facilitating traffic for citizens and vehicles, which in turn boosts economic and service sectors. The General Authority for Roads and Bridges in Lahij will oversee the project, ensuring that all work adheres to approved technical and engineering specifications.

Strategic Importance of the Project

The governor explained that this initiative forms part of a comprehensive vision aimed at transforming this strategic road. As the main connection between Lahij and the temporary capital, Aden, the road experiences heavy daily traffic. This high volume necessitates ongoing development and rehabilitation efforts.

Progress and Future Steps

Engineer Riyad Hassan, the Director General of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges in Lahij, noted that the asphalt work marks a continuation of the project’s practical steps. Following the launch of excavation work a month ago, the project has now advanced to the asphalt layer application phase.

This development promises to enhance connectivity and support economic growth in the region, reflecting the local government’s commitment to infrastructure improvement.
