Gen. Sultan Al-Aradah inspects rain and storm damage in Marib’s displaced camps.

Marib Governor Inspects Damage at Displaced Persons Camps Due to Severe Weather

In a significant show of concern and leadership, Sultan al-Aradah, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Governor of Marib, embarked on a crucial visit to assess the damage caused by recent severe weather conditions in Marib, Yemen. On Sunday evening, Governor al-Aradah visited two displaced persons camps, Jaw Al Nasim to the north and Al Jufainah to the south of the city, which were severely affected by heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

Assessment and Immediate Actions

Accompanied by Dr. Abd Rabbo Miftah, the deputy governor, and Saif Muthana, the director of the Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management, Governor al-Aradah examined the aftermath of the storms. The visit focused on the damage to public services, including electricity and water supply, which are critical for the wellbeing of the displaced populations residing in these camps.

In response to the urgent needs highlighted during the visit, al-Aradah directed Dr. Abd Rabbo Miftah, head of the local emergency committee, to swiftly address the basic and essential needs of the displaced, including shelter and food. He emphasized the importance of quickly repairing public services, with a priority on restoring electricity, and catered to the needs of families temporarily housed in schools during the inclement weather.

A Call for Comprehensive Support

Al-Aradah stressed the importance of local emergency committees working diligently to protect both the displaced in camps and residents in local communities. He highlighted the need for immediate attention and care, comprehensive damage assessment, and the preparation of detailed reports on urgent and essential needs to alleviate the suffering of those affected as quickly as possible.

The visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by displaced persons in Marib, especially in the wake of natural disasters. The efforts to quickly repair damage and restore normalcy are crucial steps in providing much-needed relief to the affected communities.
