Minister Praises Development at Al-Wahda Club

Significant Infrastructure Projects Highlighted

Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayef Al-Bakri, praised the remarkable progress at the historic Al-Wahda Club, particularly regarding its infrastructure projects and the club’s renewed vision. These efforts have led to substantial advancements for Al-Wahda Club.

Meeting in Aden to Discuss Club Activities

This statement came during a meeting on Thursday in the temporary capital of Aden. Al-Bakri met with the administrative board of Al-Wahda Club to discuss various issues related to the club’s activities. The meeting also included the presence of Deputy Minister Dr. Azam Khalifa and Sports Sector Deputy Khaled Al-Khalifi.

Emphasis on Collaborative Sports Development

During the meeting, Al-Bakri emphasized the importance of unity in sports efforts within the leading sports city of Aden. He stressed the need to achieve shared goals aimed at enhancing the region’s sports and maintaining its elite status. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of planning and teamwork to attain excellence. He directed the release of overdue allocations for clubs, contingent upon the submission of financial and administrative reports and the monitoring of their activities.

Support for International Competitions

Al-Bakri expressed the ministry’s readiness to support the club’s participation in the friendly tournament, Dana Cup, in Denmark for youth teams, as well as the Abu Dhabi Elite Star tournament in Spain for junior teams. He views these competitions as vital opportunities for skill development, confidence building, and gaining diverse experiences.

Club President Acknowledges Ministry’s Support

In response, Dr. Wissam Maawiya, President of Al-Wahda Club, appreciated the ministry’s ongoing support and commitment to facilitating various matters for the club’s management. He noted that the club has focused on improving its financial resources and leveraging available investment opportunities. These efforts have resulted in the implementation of several infrastructure projects. Maawiya confirmed that the club aims to upgrade its football field to meet international standards.
