The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, has issued a strong condemnation of a recent drone attack that targeted Saudi Arabia. This incident involved drones launched from Iraqi airspace, leading to a prompt and resolute response from the GCC leadership.
Al-Budaiwi characterized this attack as a blatant violation of the security and stability that is crucial for the region. He highlighted that such aggressive actions signify a continued escalation of hostilities, which jeopardizes the safety of vital facilities and infrastructure within Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, these actions pose a broader threat to the overall security of the Gulf region.
In his statement, the Secretary-General reaffirmed the importance of Saudi Arabia’s security as integral to the security of all GCC member states. He stressed that the council stands united with Saudi Arabia in its ongoing efforts to maintain security, stability, and sovereignty over its territory. The GCC has committed to supporting any measures that Saudi Arabia may take to safeguard its national interests.
This incident underscores the persistent tensions in the region and the urgent need for collective security measures among Gulf nations. The GCC remains dedicated to addressing threats and ensuring peace and stability for all member states.
