Yemen's Foreign Minister Receives Credentials from ICRC Mission Head

 

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Yemen’s Foreign Minister and Minister for Expatriate Affairs, Dr. Shaia Al-Zindani, received the credentials of Jurg Montani, the newly appointed head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Yemen. The ceremony took place in Aden, the temporary capital, marking a pivotal moment in the humanitarian outreach within the war-torn country.

A Focus on the Humanitarian Situation

During the meeting, Minister Al-Zindani provided an update on the latest developments concerning the humanitarian situation in Yemen. He highlighted the urgent support needed from international organizations to alleviate the humanitarian crisis, with a particular emphasis on the healthcare sector. Dr. Al-Zindani commended the ICRC’s vital role in humanitarian efforts across Yemen and reaffirmed the government’s support for the ICRC’s mission and interventions in various provinces.

The meeting was attended by key figures, including the Advisor to the Foreign Minister for General Secretariat Affairs, Ambassador Jamal Awad, and the Director of the International Organizations Department at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Muthana Al-Amiri. Their presence underscored the meeting’s importance and the collaborative efforts between Yemen and international bodies like the ICRC.
