Airport Operations Resume at Sayun International Airport

Sayun International Airport resumed flight operations on Tuesday morning after a hiatus due to recent events in the Wadi Hadramout region. This development signals a significant improvement in security conditions and the restoration of essential services.

New Flight Route Enhances Connectivity

The airport has restarted operations on the route from Aden to Sayun to Cairo and back, facilitating travel for citizens. This route strengthens the connection between Wadi Hadramout, the temporary capital Aden, and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Importance of Sayun Airport

Amir Al-Amri, the Deputy Governor of Hadramout for Wadi and Desert Affairs, emphasized that Sayun Airport serves as a vital humanitarian, service, and economic lifeline for the region. He praised the extensive efforts made by official, security, and technical bodies, as well as the unwavering support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in creating favorable conditions for the airport’s reopening.

Swift Reopening Process

Captain Saleh Bin Naheed, the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, noted that the airport’s reopening occurred within a record timeframe. He acknowledged the contributions of all parties involved in completing the technical and operational arrangements according to established standards.

This resumption of flights not only enhances local mobility but also reflects a broader trend of improving stability in the region.
