Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, attended the London 2026 Conference today. His participation followed an invitation from the Royal Institute of International Affairs, known as Chatham House. The event attracted a distinguished international audience, including senior officials, decision-makers, and political and economic leaders from around the globe.
The conference featured a keynote speech by UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and remarks from Lord Richard Heaton, the Attorney General for England and Wales. Among the attendees were former British Prime Minister Theresa May, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, and numerous high-ranking government officials, diplomats, former heads of state, and leaders from international organizations and the business sector.
The London Conference, now in its eleventh edition, serves as a prominent platform for discussing significant geopolitical and economic transformations. Over 800 policymakers, business leaders, and civil society experts from more than 70 countries participated, alongside more than 60 speakers from various international leadership and expertise backgrounds.
The conference agenda included a series of main sessions and specialized dialogues addressing rapid changes in the international system. Key topics included the future of security and international alliances, the rule of international law, global economic and trade challenges, and the role of regional and international powers in shaping the global order. Additionally, discussions covered artificial intelligence, energy security, climate change, and the future of international institutions.
During the conference, Dr. Al-Alimi participated in several sessions and side meetings that focused on current political, security, and economic transformations. He engaged in discussions about regional and international challenges, the future of the global system, and ways to enhance cooperation and partnerships to address shared issues.
On the sidelines of the conference, Dr. Al-Alimi held meetings with various political and diplomatic leaders, as well as influential international figures. These discussions centered on the latest developments in Yemen and the region, shared concerns, and the importance of strengthening international support for efforts to achieve security, stability, and recovery.
During his visit to London, Dr. Al-Alimi plans to meet with senior officials, decision-makers, and political and parliamentary leaders. He will also connect with prominent figures in think tanks and policy-making circles. These engagements aim to enhance communication with decision-making bodies, rally support for the Yemeni cause, and exchange insights on the evolving situation in Yemen and the region.
Dr. Al-Alimi was accompanied by Dr. Yasin Saeed Noman, Yemen’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, during his participation in the conference.
This event underscores the ongoing commitment to addressing global challenges and fostering international collaboration, particularly concerning Yemen’s future and stability.
