Direct Flights Resume Between Mukalla and Cairo

The Yemeni Ministry of Transport and Yemenia Airlines have announced the resumption of direct flights between Al-Riyan Airport in Mukalla, Hadhramaut, and Cairo International Airport in Egypt. This significant development comes after a hiatus of over ten years.

Minister’s Statement on Flight Resumption

In a statement to the Yemen News Agency (SABA), Minister of Transport Dr. Abdul Salam Saleh Humeid confirmed that the resumption of flights follows the receipt of necessary permits from Egyptian authorities. He indicated that the official launch and flight schedule would be announced within the next two weeks.

Acknowledging Collaborative Efforts

Minister Humeid emphasized that the revival of Yemenia flights between Mukalla and Cairo reflects the extensive efforts and strategic direction of the Ministry of Transport. He praised the leadership of Yemenia Airlines, the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology, local authorities in Hadhramaut, and the Yemeni embassy in Cairo for their contributions to achieving this milestone.

Appreciation for Egyptian Cooperation

The Minister also expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended by Egyptian authorities in granting the necessary permits. He noted the ongoing support provided by the Egyptian government to the Yemeni people since the onset of the war instigated by the Iran-backed Houthi militia and the preceding challenges.
