Meeting Addresses Water Crisis in Taiz

On Saturday, Tarik Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, led a comprehensive meeting to discuss the ongoing water crisis affecting residents in Taiz City.

Key Participants and Focus Areas

The meeting included prominent figures such as Members of Parliament Sheikh Abdul Wahab Al-Amir, Sheikh Sadiq Al-Dabab, and Sheikh Ali Al-Wafi. Additionally, Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan, along with the Deputy Minister of Interior and the Deputy Governor of Taiz, Major General Mohammed Al-Mahmoudi and Engineer Rashad Al-Akhali, participated. The directors of the Water and Sanitation Authority, Engineer Wathiq Al-Aghbari, and the Al-Mu’afir Directorate, Mohammed Al-Kadhahi, along with humanitarian coordinator Abdullah Al-Habishi, also attended.

The discussions primarily focused on the challenges hindering the implementation of the Sheikh Zayed Water Project. This project stands as one of the most strategic initiatives aimed at providing water to Taiz’s residents. Participants reviewed technical and environmental obstacles and proposed practical solutions to expedite the project’s completion.

Urgent Need for Collaborative Efforts

During the meeting, Tarik Saleh emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between official bodies and the community to ensure the project’s success. He highlighted the urgent need for immediate solutions that address the water scarcity faced by Taiz residents. Saleh directed the Water Authority and local authorities to monitor the use of wells within the city.

Direct Oversight and Community Engagement

Saleh instructed Governor Shamsan to take direct responsibility for overseeing the project. He also tasked Deputy Governor Engineer Rashad Al-Akhali with coordinating with local residents to accelerate the Sheikh Zayed Project’s progress. Saleh stressed the necessity of considering the interests of surrounding communities, ensuring that water access extends to their villages.
