Council member Tariq Saleh and the U.S. ambassador discuss the challenges of war and peace in Yemen.
Discussion on Yemen's Current Situation
Today, Tariq Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to discuss the evolving situation in Yemen. The two officials focused on the regional developments and the Council’s perspective on the challenges posed by Houthi terrorism and Israeli aggression. They also explored options for both war and peace.
Rejecting Houthi Aggression
During the meeting, Saleh firmly rejected the Houthi militia’s aggressive actions in the Red Sea. He condemned any international targeting of civilian institutions and facilities. According to Saleh, the only viable path to restoring peace in Yemen and ensuring stability in the Red Sea lies in supporting legitimate forces. He emphasized the importance of re-establishing the Yemeni state’s authority and liberating it from the control of Iranian-backed Houthi militias.
Call for Democratic Governance
Saleh reiterated the necessity of returning governance to the Yemeni people. He highlighted the need for elections conducted in accordance with the constitution and the law. This approach, he argued, is essential for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
The dialogue between Tariq Saleh and Ambassador Fagin underscores the ongoing complexities of Yemen’s political landscape and the international community’s role in addressing these challenges.
