Council member Sultan al-Aradah discusses the latest developments in Yemen with the EU ambassador.

Recent Discussions on Yemen’s National Situation

Today, Major General Sultan al-Arada, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with Gabriel Monera Vinales, the European Union Ambassador to Yemen. The two officials discussed the latest developments in Yemen’s political, economic, and military landscape, as well as the ongoing humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the Houthi militia’s actions.

Addressing the Humanitarian Crisis

During the meeting, al-Arada emphasized the Presidential Leadership Council and the government’s proactive approach to regional and international proposals aimed at resolving the humanitarian crisis. He highlighted the urgent need for adherence to the three fundamental references for a political solution. Furthermore, he called for effective international pressure on the Houthi militia to halt its escalation and fulfill humanitarian and political commitments. This, he asserted, is essential to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and to realize their aspirations for a stable and prosperous state.

Strengthening Yemen-EU Relations

Al-Arada praised the strong bilateral relations between Yemen and the European Union, acknowledging the EU’s support for the Yemeni government across various sectors. He expressed gratitude for the EU’s consistent stance in backing the aspirations of the Yemeni people and promoting security and stability in the region. Looking ahead, he expressed hope for expanding areas of cooperation and strategic partnership between Yemen and the EU. Such collaboration, he noted, would bolster the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy, improve living conditions, and enhance its capacity to meet citizens’ needs and provide essential services.

Conclusion

The discussions between Major General al-Arada and Ambassador Vinales underscore the ongoing commitment to addressing Yemen’s multifaceted challenges. As both parties work towards a sustainable resolution, the focus remains on humanitarian aid, political stability, and the strengthening of international partnerships.
