On Tuesday, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, held an extensive meeting with a group of prominent journalists and media professionals from southern provinces. The gathering included staff from the “South Today” channel and aimed to discuss recent developments in the local scene and prioritize the media’s role in the current phase.
Al-Mahrimi opened the meeting by welcoming attendees and congratulating them on the holy month. He emphasized their crucial role in shaping public awareness and safeguarding the truth. He stated that media has evolved beyond a mere transmission tool; it now acts as a vital partner in protecting national achievements and strengthening internal cohesion.
During the meeting, Al-Mahrimi stressed the importance of establishing a robust professional discourse. He urged media representatives to balance courage with responsibility while addressing political, economic, and security challenges. He called for a departure from emotional reactions and narrow alignments.
Al-Mahrimi advocated for prioritizing southern dialogue as a national imperative to mend internal divisions. He highlighted the necessity of supporting the newly formed government, which operates outside the framework of power-sharing, and backing its efforts to stabilize the region and promote development.
In this context, Al-Mahrimi praised Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in facilitating a fair resolution to the southern issue through an inclusive southern dialogue. He emphasized the need for discussions without preconditions and with an open framework that ensures representation for all parties involved.
The council member reviewed ongoing efforts to stabilize the situation and ensure the regular disbursement of salaries in Aden and liberated provinces. He reiterated the commitment to unify security and military decisions within an institutional framework that enhances discipline and maintains stability.
Al-Mahrimi listened attentively to various questions and comments from journalists, which addressed political and service-related issues. He responded to these inquiries with transparency and clarity, reaffirming the political leadership’s openness to media as a partner in conveying the truth and supporting paths toward construction and stability.
This meeting underscores the critical role of media in fostering national unity and addressing pressing challenges in the region.
