Brigade 23 Mika forces seize heroin in Al-Wadea triangle, thwarting smuggling attempt into Saudi Arabia.

Yemeni Forces Intercept Heroin Smuggling Attempt to Saudi Arabia

In a significant operation on Monday, units from the 23rd Mika Brigade stationed at the Wadi’a Triangle in Hadramout Governorate successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt, seizing 550 grams of heroin intended for Saudi Arabia.

High Alert Leads to Successful Interception

Brigadier General Abdullah Ma’zeb, the commander of the 23rd Mika Brigade, detailed that this was not the first attempt of its kind. Smugglers had professionally concealed the narcotics, but the high vigilance and security acumen of the brigade’s heroes thwarted their efforts. Ma’zeb highlighted the operation as a testament to the high security awareness, competence, capability, and alertness of the brigade members.

Ongoing Battle Against Criminal Activities

General Ma’zeb emphasized the continuous war the brigade wages against criminal gangs, including robbers, drug smugglers, and those planting explosive devices on roads. He praised the brigade’s efforts in securing the international road, protecting travelers, and combating all forms of smuggling, sabotage, and criminal activities.

Previous Successes in Combating Drug Smuggling

The recent heroin seizure adds to a series of thwarted drug smuggling attempts by the brigade, including last week’s interception of 22,667 narcotic pills hidden within pumpkin seeds, also destined for Saudi Arabia. These operations underscore the brigade’s relentless pursuit of securing the region from the clutches of drug traffickers and ensuring the safety of its citizens and travelers alike.

This successful operation reflects the ongoing commitment of Yemeni forces to combat drug trafficking and maintain security and stability in the region.
