An elderly man suffered severe injuries, resulting in the amputation of both legs, due to a landmine explosion left by the Houthi militia in the town of Midi, located in Hajja Governorate.

On Tuesday, the Yemen Mine Observatory reported that the elderly individual, identified as Thabit Jalhof, sustained serious injuries while tending to his sheep in the village of Al-Ja’da. The explosion occurred when he accidentally triggered a landmine planted by the Houthis.

The observatory highlighted that Al-Ja’da is a residential area heavily contaminated with landmines. Numerous incidents of landmine explosions have been recorded in this region.
