Yemeni Ambassador Discusses Strengthening Cooperation at the UN

The Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, recently engaged in discussions with the permanent representatives of Greece, Somalia, Denmark, and Pakistan. These meetings focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the realm of multilateral efforts.

Political and Humanitarian Developments in Yemen

During his discussions, Ambassador Al-Saadi highlighted the current political landscape, economic challenges, and humanitarian conditions in Yemen. He outlined the ongoing efforts to achieve peace and addressed regional developments that impact security and stability. The ambassador emphasized the significant role that these friendly nations could play through their membership in the UN Security Council. Their support could help advance the peace process in Yemen and aid in the political resolution of the conflict, ultimately alleviating the humanitarian suffering faced by the Yemeni people.

Commitment to Peace and Regional Cooperation

Ambassador Al-Saadi reiterated the Yemeni government’s commitment to pursuing peace. He expressed the government’s dedication to supporting all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and sustainable peace that aligns with the aspirations of the Yemeni people. He specifically referenced the agreed-upon political solution frameworks, including UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

Support from UN Representatives

In response, the permanent representatives expressed their countries’ unwavering support for political solutions to end the conflict in Yemen. They praised the Yemeni government for its flexibility and positive engagement with the United Nations, particularly through its Special Envoy to Yemen. The representatives affirmed their readiness to collaborate with other Security Council members to bolster peace initiatives in Yemen.

This collaborative effort highlights the international community’s commitment to resolving the ongoing crisis in Yemen and fostering stability in the region.
