In a recent address, Salim Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut, emphasized that the foundation of nation-building begins with investing in human development. He described individuals as the most valuable asset and the cornerstone of sustainable growth.
Al-Khanbashi spoke at the “Ather” Development Forum, organized by the Hadhramaut Human Development Foundation. The forum celebrated the 20th anniversary of the foundation’s commitment to education, training, and capacity building. He highlighted the shift in youth awareness towards education, specialization, and quality skills as a significant outcome of investing in people. He expressed gratitude for the foundation’s efforts under the leadership of Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Baqshan, praising its initiatives that have positively impacted the community.
The Governor expressed pride in the pioneering model presented by the Hadhramaut Human Development Foundation. He noted that its developmental experience has transcended the boundaries of Hadhramaut, influencing various Yemeni provinces and bringing tangible changes to the lives of thousands of beneficiaries.
Engineer Abdullah Baqshan, the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Founders, shared insights into the foundation’s inception. He recounted how the idea emerged from addressing community needs and challenges, leading to a focus on education as a primary developmental axis.
The forum featured a visual presentation that highlighted key milestones in the foundation’s journey. Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharjabi presented an impact study on the foundation’s projects and programs, revealing that over 237,348 individuals directly benefited from its primary initiatives over the past two decades. The foundation’s interventions have yielded significant results in various areas, including general education, scholarships, training, capacity building, youth development, economic empowerment, and improving living standards.
The forum also delved into specialized topics, including how scholarships and higher education shape a generation of leaders and change-makers. Discussions covered vocational education and training, emphasizing partnerships and complementary roles in development. Additionally, the forum showcased exemplary secondary schools as a model for educational excellence, highlighting the foundation’s efforts in cultivating a qualified generation capable of contributing to development.
