A 14-year-old student, identified as Aadi Mohammed Saeed Qasim Al-Tawil, sustained a gunshot wound while participating in a military training session organized by the Houthi militia at a school in Ibb Governorate. The incident occurred at the Moaz bin Jabal School in the Al-Sayani district, located in southern Ibb.
According to educational sources, a bullet discharged during the training struck the ceiling of the classroom and ricocheted, injuring Al-Tawil in the hand. Following the incident, he was promptly transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
In response to the incident, parents and the school’s parent council expressed their outrage. They condemned the event and called for an immediate halt to any military activities within educational institutions. The parents hold the Houthi militia accountable for the safety of their children.
The Houthi militia has conducted military and ideological training courses for university and school students for nearly a year. This initiative, which the group refers to as “public mobilization,” aims to undermine the educational process in areas under their control. The continued militarization of schools raises significant concerns about the safety and well-being of students in these regions.
This incident highlights the urgent need for authorities to protect educational environments and ensure that children can learn without the threat of violence.
