A security source warns of Houthi messages aimed at luring citizens through the “Yemen Mobile” and “You” networks.

Security Warning Issued to Citizens in Liberated Provinces

An official source from the Ministry of Interior has warned citizens in the liberated provinces, particularly Taiz and Al Hudaydah, about a campaign being carried out by Houthi terrorist militias. The campaign involves sending text messages through the telecommunications networks Yemen Mobile and Yoo, which the militias seized control of following their coup in 2014. These messages contain calls for what the militias refer to as “amnesty and return.”

Psychological Warfare and Deception Campaign

The source explained that these messages are part of a systematic campaign of psychological warfare and deception aimed at influencing citizens and exploiting their circumstances. The militias use telecommunications networks as a tool to implement their plans and gather information that could be used for security purposes.

Warnings to Citizens

The source urged citizens to:

  • Not fall for these messages or respond to them
  • Avoid contacting the numbers provided in the messages
  • Refrain from providing any personal data or information
  • Not share or circulate the messages

The source emphasized that this is part of a disinformation campaign targeting the community in the liberated provinces.

Call for Action from Relevant Authorities

The source called on the relevant authorities in the telecommunications and information technology sector to take urgent and responsible measures to prevent the exploitation of telecommunications and internet networks by Houthi militias, and to protect citizens from deception and entrapment campaigns.

Severe Consequences for Victims of Deception

The source warned about the dangers of falling victim to these tactics, confirming that previous experiences have shown that responding to such calls has led many citizens to the militias’ prisons, where they faced torture, mistreatment, and enforced disappearance.

The source concluded by stating that citizen awareness and vigilance represent the first line of defense in protecting the community from the disinformation and psychological warfare campaigns waged by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias.
