The Yemeni Women’s Empowerment Foundation documented the deaths of 107 women and children, including 23 women and 84 children, resulting from violations committed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia in Taiz Governorate. This report covers the period from August 1 to October 15, 2026.
The foundation’s report, titled “The Pain of Mothers,” highlighted 1,321 cases of home invasions and the displacement of 4,860 individuals, among whom were 1,650 women and 3,210 children. Additionally, the report noted that 221,630 individuals have been displaced, with the majority being women and children.
The report further revealed that the violations included the forced recruitment of 32 children. It documented 1,056 crimes and violations related to healthcare services, alongside 246,110 children currently outside educational institutions.
The foundation emphasized that the ongoing violations, which have resulted in fatalities, displacement, and children deprived of education and healthcare, necessitate serious international measures for accountability and justice for the victims.
The organization called for the lifting of restrictions, blockades, and assaults that hinder civilian movement and the transport of food, water, and medicine, as well as access to essential services in Taiz. The Houthi militia bears responsibility for the documented violations.
The foundation urged for independent and effective investigations to hold accountable those who ordered, executed, or contributed to these crimes. It also appealed to the international community, the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and relevant international mechanisms to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities regarding the violations committed against civilians in Taiz Governorate.
