The Taiz Human Rights Center has documented the deaths and injuries of 154 civilians in Taiz Governorate due to violations by the Houthi militia since the beginning of October. This report coincides with the ongoing siege imposed on the city.
In a report published on Wednesday, the center revealed that between October 1 and October 26, 2026, 44 civilians died and 110 others sustained injuries. These casualties resulted from artillery and missile shelling, as well as direct sniper fire carried out by the Houthi militia.
Among the victims, the report identified 47 women and 51 children. The Houthi shelling on residential neighborhoods and civilian sites has led to the destruction and damage of hundreds of homes, mosques, hospitals, schools, and both public and private infrastructure.
The center also recorded 37 cases of abduction of citizens from their homes and workplaces in the southern and western districts of rural Taiz during the same period. The report emphasized that the Houthi militia continues to forcibly displace tens of thousands of families from villages, residential areas, and displacement camps.
The center highlighted the ongoing Houthi siege on the city of Taiz, which includes the closure of roads and access points leading to the city. This blockade prevents the entry of food, medicine, water, fuel, humanitarian aid, and medical supplies. The report warns of a worsening humanitarian crisis for the residents.
