Google Maps on Android Auto is set to receive a highly anticipated update. Soon, the app will display real-time vehicle speed, speed limits, traffic signal alerts, and stop signs, even without activating navigation or setting a destination.
Previously, the speedometer and road limits on Android Auto only appeared when navigation started. This limitation meant that drivers missed out on this information during short or routine city trips. The new update removes this restriction, allowing the dashboard to show data immediately upon system activation.
Google confirmed that the update will roll out gradually to users, without a specific timeline. This announcement coincides with a separate issue some users have recently faced: the complete disappearance of the speedometer from the screen. Google clarified that this problem stems from a software glitch currently under resolution and is unrelated to the new update.
