A meeting in Aden discusses the fuel supply situation in Shabwa, focusing on oil derivatives.

A meeting held today in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, focused on the oil supply situation in Shabwa Governorate. The session was chaired by Dr. Saeed Suleiman Al-Shamasi, the Minister of Oil and Minerals.

Minister Praises Local Support

During the meeting, Minister Al-Shamasi commended the ongoing cooperation and support from the local authority in Shabwa. He emphasized that this collaboration helps overcome challenges facing the oil sector and the ministry’s branch offices in the governorate. The meeting aimed to implement the outcomes of previous discussions held in Shabwa between the Ministry of Oil and Minerals and local authorities.

Reports on Oil Company Operations

The Executive Director of the Yemeni Oil Company, Tarek Mansour Al-Walidi, along with the branch manager in Shabwa, Ahmed Al-Shami, presented detailed reports. These reports outlined the general management’s role and the branch’s activities in Shabwa, highlighting its efforts to meet the province’s oil supply needs. They also discussed significant achievements over the past two years, as well as the challenges faced, including accumulated debts and commercial obstacles.

Formation of a Committee to Address Challenges

In light of the discussions, Minister Al-Shamasi directed the formation of a committee to study the issues facing the Shabwa branch of the oil company. This committee will provide detailed reports outlining the challenges and proposed legal solutions. The Minister stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to resolve the problems hindering the oil company’s operations in Shabwa and to enhance its performance to better serve citizens’ needs for oil products.

Urgent Actions Required

The meeting underscored the necessity of completing the documentation for land designated for the construction of an oil company building in Shabwa. Additionally, it emphasized the urgent need to reactivate the company’s fuel stations to meet the province’s oil supply demands and boost branch revenues.

Attendance and Participation

The meeting included the participation of Talal Bin Haidra, the Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs, and Assistant Undersecretary Saf Ahmed Mosaad, along with several other officials.

This meeting represents a crucial step toward addressing the oil supply challenges in Shabwa, ensuring that local needs are met effectively.
