Meeting at Al-Jawf University Addresses Challenges and Future Plans

Key Discussions on Academic Growth and Infrastructure Needs

Today, a significant meeting took place at Al-Jawf University, led by Major General Sultan al-Arada, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, and attended by Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak. The discussions focused on the university’s current situation, achievements, and future plans.

University Report Highlights Challenges

During the meeting, Dr. Muhammad al-Qudsi, the university president, presented a comprehensive report detailing the institution’s needs and the challenges it currently faces. The report highlighted a substantial increase in student enrollment across all faculties, which has exceeded the university’s capacity. This surge results from the university’s relatively new establishment amid extraordinary circumstances and insufficient infrastructure.

Proposed Solutions for Improvement

The report included proposed solutions aimed at helping the university overcome these challenges. These recommendations will enable the institution to fulfill its academic mission and contribute effectively to community service while achieving its desired objectives.

Recognition of Achievements

Major General Sultan al-Arada acknowledged the university’s significant achievements in a short period. He noted that the institution has successfully graduated thousands of qualified students equipped with knowledge across various fields. He urged the government and university leadership to collaborate in addressing the obstacles hindering ongoing academic modernization and development. This collaboration should include the establishment of new departments and faculties, as well as the enhancement of the university’s infrastructure.

Government Support for Development Plans

Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak commended Al-Jawf University for its accomplishments despite its recent establishment and challenging conditions. He recognized the university as a vital academic hub for the people of Marib and neighboring provinces, serving as a refuge for many displaced individuals due to the Houthi militia conflict. The Prime Minister expressed the government’s readiness to support the university’s modernization and development plans, including the introduction of innovative academic programs. This support aims to ensure that the university keeps pace with rapid academic advancements across various fields, enhancing its value in national higher education.

Broader Role in Society

Dr. bin Mubarak emphasized the importance of Al-Jawf University and other Yemeni universities extending their roles beyond education and knowledge dissemination. He encouraged them to contribute to the battle for awareness, promote values of coexistence, and oppose sectarian and tribal agendas within society. He underscored the need for these institutions to play an active role in restoring the state and ending the Houthi coup.

This meeting marks a critical step in addressing the challenges faced by Al-Jawf University, ensuring its growth and development in the coming years.
