President Rashad Alimi Arrives in New York for UN General Assembly

On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in New York City. He is joined by council members, Lieutenant General Aidarus Al-Zubaidi and Dr. Abdullah Alimi, to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Addressing Global Leaders

During the assembly, President Alimi will deliver a speech representing Yemen. He plans to discuss the current local and regional developments, emphasizing the international support needed for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government at various levels.

Vision for Peace and Security

In his address, President Alimi will outline the council’s vision for achieving a just and comprehensive peace. He will also address the shared threats posed by the Iran-backed Houthi militia and their implications for international peace and security.

High-Level Discussions on Humanitarian and Economic Issues

Alongside the UN meetings, President Alimi and council members will engage in high-level discussions regarding Yemen’s humanitarian and economic conditions. They will also address the risks associated with the continued flow of Iranian weapons and the rising terrorist activities of the Houthi militia and their allied criminal organizations.

Bilateral Meetings with Delegation Leaders

President Alimi and council members will hold separate meetings with several heads of delegations attending the assembly. These discussions will focus on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest across various sectors.

Warm Welcome at the UN

Upon arrival, the Yemeni Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, and Deputy Ambassador to the United States, Imad Bamatraf, greeted the delegation.
