Last week, road accidents resulted in the tragic loss of three lives and left 76 individuals injured, with 26 of those injuries described as severe. The financial toll of these accidents reached a staggering 11.62 million riyals, underscoring the significant impact on both human life and economic resources.
According to traffic statistics released by the media security of the Ministry of Interior, based on daily reports from the General Directorate of Traffic Police, the same period witnessed 85 road accidents across various regions and liberated provinces. These incidents included 58 vehicle collisions, 15 pedestrian accidents, 11 vehicle rollovers, and one incident of a person falling from a vehicle. The statistics further confirmed that the majority of these accidents were due to drivers violating traffic rules and regulations. Key factors contributing to these incidents included speeding, exceeding load limits, dangerous overtaking, distractions from the road, failure to maintain safe distances, frequent and improper stopping on the road, neglecting regular vehicle maintenance, and using substandard or inappropriate spare parts.
