Yemeni Ambassador to Japan, Adel Al-Sanini, met today with the President of the Yemen-Japan Parliamentary Association and member of the Japanese Parliament, Kozaburo Nishimi. They explored ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two friendly nations.
Ambassador Al-Sanini reviewed the latest developments in Yemen and the region. He highlighted efforts to restore state institutions and secure international navigation. He pointed out the escalation of the Houthi militia, which receives support from the Iranian regime. The ambassador also noted the ongoing siege of the city of Taiz, attacks on civilian facilities, and threats to international shipping.
Al-Sanini explained that these actions cast a shadow over the security of the Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, global trade, and energy supplies. He emphasized the importance of intensifying international efforts to support the Yemeni government in regaining control over cities, ports, and coastlines, as well as protecting maritime routes.
The ambassador praised Japan’s supportive stance towards the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. He acknowledged Japan’s commitment to Yemen’s unity, security, stability, and territorial integrity. Additionally, he commended the developmental support and humanitarian assistance Japan provides to Yemen.
In response, President Nishimi reaffirmed his commitment to continue strengthening relations between the two countries. He reiterated Japan’s support for Yemen and stressed the importance of maritime security and ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability in Yemen and the region.
