Yemeni-Qatari Bilateral Talks Held in Doha

In a significant move towards bolstering bilateral relations, the Prime Ministers of Yemen and Qatar convened for comprehensive discussions in Doha on Sunday. The meeting, led by Yemen’s Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who also serves as the Foreign Minister, focused on a range of pivotal topics.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Regional Developments

The officials engaged in deep discussions about the latest national and regional developments and explored mechanisms to enhance the already strong bilateral relations across various sectors. A key topic of conversation was Qatar’s potential role in supporting the Yemeni government’s efforts to achieve economic stability.

Addressing Regional and International Issues

The talks also covered regional, Arab, and international developments, with particular attention to the situation in Palestine amid ongoing conflicts and acts of genocide against the Palestinian people. The efforts of Qatar to halt Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip were a significant point of discussion.

Yemen’s Path to Reform and Peace Efforts

Prime Minister bin Mubarak briefed his Qatari counterpart on the latest developments in Yemen, including government strategies to address challenges, reforms, and efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption measures. He also highlighted peace efforts, the roadmap for the Red Sea, and addressed misconceptions linking Houthi escalation and piracy against commercial ships to the situation in Gaza.

Mutual Appreciation and Support

The Yemeni Prime Minister praised the level of Yemeni-Qatari relations, expressing gratitude for Qatar’s continuous support under various circumstances, including its prompt response to assist those affected by recent rain disasters in Yemen. On his part, the Qatari Prime Minister reaffirmed Qatar’s steadfast support for Yemen and its people, emphasizing the desire to expand partnership frameworks with the Yemeni government.

The discussion session was attended by Yemen’s Ambassador to Qatar, Rajeh Badi, the Prime Minister’s Office Director, Engineer Anis Baharitha, and the Prime Minister’s Advisor, Ambassador Mujeeb Osman. The meeting underscores the mutual commitment to further develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the two nations, highlighting a shared vision for prosperity and stability in the region.

This high-profile meeting reflects the ongoing dedication of both Yemen and Qatar to strengthen their bilateral ties and work collaboratively on regional issues, setting a positive trajectory for future cooperation.
