Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian capital hosted a vibrant Yemeni artistic event as part of the 32nd Arab Music Festival and Conference. This year’s theme, “A Collection of Melodies by the Renowned Composer Ahmed Fathi,” highlighted the rich cultural tapestry of Yemen.
The event took place at the Republic Theater, part of the Egyptian Opera House. It attracted notable figures, including Yemen’s ambassador to Egypt, Khaled Bahah, and former Yemeni President Ali Nasser Muhammad.
Young artists such as Omar Yaseen, Hajar Naaman, Khaled Karim, Fatima Mathna, Nourhan Khaled, Yasser Hazaa, Mohamed Mashhoor, and Reema Abdo performed over twenty traditional Yemeni songs. They accompanied the talented oud player Haitham Al-Hadrami and his band, showcasing Yemen’s artistic diversity rooted in its rich historical heritage.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Ambassador Khaled Bahah praised the event, calling it a “distinguished Yemeni representation.” He noted the large and diverse audience, which reflected the true spirit of Yemen and its cultural richness.
Ambassador Bahah emphasized the embassy’s commitment to organizing more artistic events that strengthen cultural ties between Yemen and Egypt. He also highlighted the importance of supporting the Yemeni diaspora, who have been displaced by the ongoing conflict, in preserving their cultural heritage.
The Arab Music Festival and Conference, organized by the Egyptian Opera House, features artistic performances from various Arab countries. Its goal is to foster artistic connections among Arab nations and promote shared cultural heritage.
This year’s event not only celebrated the beauty of Yemeni music but also reinforced the bonds among Arab cultures through the universal language of art.
