Yemen wins Best Feature and Short Film at Casablanca Film Festival.

Yemeni Films Triumph at Casablanca Arab Film Festival

In a significant showcase of cinematic talent, the Yemeni film “The Teens,” directed by Amr Jamal and starring Abeer Mohammed and Khaled Hamdan, clinched the Grand Prize at the fifth edition of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival. The festival, which concluded its activities today in the city of Casablanca, saw “The Teens” emerge victorious among 12 Arab films competing for the top honor.

Another Win for Yemeni Cinema

Adding to Yemen’s achievements at this prestigious Arab film festival, “The Bucket,” directed by Adel Al-Haimi, secured the Best Director award for short films from a competitive field of 16 entries. These accolades highlight the growing prominence and recognition of Yemeni cinema on the international stage.

A Source of National Pride

The Yemeni Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, Azzaldeen Al-Asbahi, accepted the awards on behalf of the winners. He expressed immense pride in these achievements, emphasizing their significance especially amidst the challenging circumstances brought about by the ongoing conflict in Yemen. Ambassador Al-Asbahi highlighted the positive role of cinema in promoting values of peace, coexistence, and acceptance of others, noting its integral part in the collective memory of the nation.

Cinema as a Beacon of Hope

These wins at the Casablanca Arab Film Festival underscore the resilience and creativity of Yemeni filmmakers. Despite facing daunting challenges, they continue to produce compelling stories that resonate with audiences far and wide.
