On Saturday, the Republic of Yemen participated in the opening ceremony of the 26th Gulf Cup, hosted by the friendly nation of Kuwait. The Yemeni delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Munir Al-Wajeeh, marked the occasion with enthusiasm.
The opening ceremony took place at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium and featured a stunning artistic performance inspired by Gulf heritage. His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, inaugurated the event. Attendees enjoyed a historical presentation highlighting the Gulf Cup’s journey since its inception.
Gulf artists captivated the audience with patriotic songs. The evening culminated in a spectacular fireworks display that illuminated the skies over Kuwait, creating a breathtaking visual experience.
Munir Al-Wajeeh praised Kuwait for its successful hosting of the tournament. He acknowledged the significant legacy of Kuwaiti football in Gulf Cup history, recalling the nation’s first participation and its last championship victory in Yemen.
