The legal support team for the Presidential Leadership Council convened its inaugural meeting today, Saturday, in the temporary capital of Aden. The meeting took place under the leadership of Chief Justice Hamoud Al-Hattar.
This three-day meeting aims to discuss the team’s work plan for the upcoming phase. Key topics include activating support mechanisms for the Presidential Leadership Council as outlined in the power transfer announcement. Additionally, the agenda covers various pressing issues that require the team’s attention.
During the meeting, Chief Justice Hamoud Al-Hattar underscored the vital role the team plays during this transitional period. He emphasized the need for the legal support team to provide legal assistance as a presidential body that commands the trust and respect of both political leadership and the international community.
Al-Hattar stressed the importance of adhering to the constitution and the transitional references. He called for prioritizing the public interest and working in accordance with national and international standards. This includes preparing studies, research, and legal consultations relevant to the team’s responsibilities.
The Chief Justice also praised the accomplishments of the legal team in recent months. Notable achievements include the draft regulations governing the operations of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority, and both the legal and economic teams.
This meeting marks a significant step forward in ensuring that the legal support team effectively contributes to the stability and governance of the Presidential Leadership Council during this critical transition.
