The meeting aimed to enhance regional maritime coordination through the IORIS platform. Over 100 officials from 50 countries across East Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America attended the event. Participants discussed critical issues such as search and rescue operations, combating smuggling, and addressing illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
During the meeting, attendees reviewed successful case studies achieved through the IORIS platform. Notable accomplishments included thwarting drug smuggling operations, executing complex maritime rescue missions, and strengthening regional efforts against piracy. These success stories highlighted the platform’s effectiveness in enhancing maritime security.
Yemen’s participation underscores the nation’s commitment to engaging with international platforms. By enhancing national capabilities in maritime surveillance and multilateral coordination, Yemen aims to protect its maritime interests and support regional security and stability. This collaboration is vital for fostering a safer maritime environment in the region.
