Yemen Participates in 63rd Arab Health Ministers Council Meeting

The Republic of Yemen actively participated in the 63rd session of the Arab Health Ministers Council, held in Tripoli, Libya. The Yemeni delegation, led by Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasim Bahibeh, engaged in discussions on various pressing health issues.

Key Topics Discussed

During the session, ministers addressed several critical topics, including support for the health sector in Palestine. They also reviewed successful health initiatives from various Arab nations. A significant focus was placed on the Arab strategy for utilizing migrant health professionals to bolster healthcare systems in the region from 2026 to 2030.

Strategies for Primary Healthcare and Public Health

The council examined strategies aimed at enhancing primary healthcare and family medicine. Additionally, they discussed the provision of public health services in the context of displacement and refugee situations. The meeting also highlighted a decision from the Arab Economic Summit regarding investment in health human resources.

Blood Services and Health Specialties

The agenda included discussions on the Arab Blood Services Authority, the Arab Council for Health Specialties, and the Arab Center for the Compilation and Translation of Health Sciences. Furthermore, the ministers prepared a unified statement for the 79th World Health Assembly.

Environmental Health and Drug Development

The meeting addressed health and environmental issues, including the establishment of a regional center for applied pharmaceuticals. The ministers emphasized the need for unified Arab efforts to combat drug abuse and collaborated with the Middle Eastern Network for Community Health. They also reviewed the status of the Arab Health Development Fund and set a date and location for the 65th session.

Yemeni Delegation Highlights

Alongside Minister Bahibeh, the Yemeni delegation included Ambassador to Libya Hassan Al-Hard, Executive Director of the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies Dr. Abdulqader Al-Bakri, President of the Supreme Medical Council Dr. Omar Zain, and Head of the Technical Office at the Ministry of Health Dr. Musleh Al-Tawali.

This participation underscores Yemen’s commitment to regional health initiatives and collaboration among Arab nations.
