Yemen Participates in the 48th Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports Meeting in Baghdad

The Republic of Yemen participated today in the 48th session of the Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports, held in Baghdad, Iraq. The Yemeni delegation was led by Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayef Al-Bakri.

Strengthening Arab Youth Relations

In his address, Minister Al-Bakri praised the strong relationships among Arab youth across various fields, particularly in youth and sports. He highlighted the continuous development in these areas and commended the events marking Baghdad as the Capital of Arab Culture and Sports, which commenced earlier today.

Commitment to Collaboration

Al-Bakri stated, “These meetings reflect the commitment of Arab nations to enhance cooperation and development in the youth and sports sectors. They also demonstrate a desire to build a better and more prosperous future for youth in the Arab region.”

Celebrating Achievements

The minister congratulated Saudi Arabia and Morocco for being awarded the rights to host the FIFA World Cup in 2030 and 2034, respectively. He also congratulated Bahrain for winning the Arabian Gulf Cup in its 26th edition and commended Kuwait for its successful organization of the tournament. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Jordan for its management of the previous session, the 47th.

Key Discussions and Initiatives

The meeting addressed several issues related to the development of youth and sports sectors in Arab countries. Participants focused on enhancing cooperation among member states, discussing youth-related issues, and approving youth and sports events aimed at strengthening ties between Arab nations. The discussions aimed to facilitate the exchange of successful experiences and establish joint strategies for the advancement of youth and sports.

Future Activities Planned

The meeting approved a series of youth and sports activities proposed by representatives from various Arab countries. These initiatives are set to be implemented in 2025, with the goal of achieving youth development objectives and fulfilling the aspirations of Arab youth.

The meeting also saw the attendance of Yemen’s Ambassador to Iraq, Khadr Ahmed Marmash, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the Sports Sector, Khaled Al-Khalifi, and member of the Technical Sports Committee assisting the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports, Fhaman Hamada.
